GasBuddy.com says average retail gasoline prices in Saskatoon have fallen 1.4 cents per litre in the past week averaging 204.68 cents a litre on Sunday. Some stations in Saskatoon are at 201.9 cents a litre. GasBuddy.com surveys 81 gas outlets.
Including the change in gas prices in Saskatoon during the past week, prices Sunday were 73.4 cents a litre higher than the same day a year ago and 17.7 cents a litre higher than a month ago.
Head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy is Patrick De Haan who is actually optimistic prices could fall a bit more by the Canada Day long weekend. He points to gas prices falling for the seconds straight week in the face of faltering oil prices and the good news is there could be a third week of decline. However he says motorists should be aware that any jolt to oil supply could cause a turnaround. In fact he suggest the risk remains that when the peak of hurricane season arrives there could be a super spike at the pump.
