Saskatchewan residents never thought 178.9 cents a litre would be a deal on gas but prices went up and this morning regular unleaded is 187.9 cents a litre.
On Monday gasbuddy.com indicated that the average retail gasoline prices had already risen 13 cents a litre in the week prior. Including the change in gas prices in Saskatoon last week and this week, prices are higher by almost 63 cents a litre compared to the same time frame a year ago.
Petroleum analyst Patrick De Haan says gasoline and diesel prices both surged as oil prices continued to climb after the EU indicated its desire to sanction Russian oil. And as the summer driving season starts, there was another weekly drop in petroleum inventories.
Of note though, he says that not only are diesel prices at a record high, they are at their largest differential to gasoline on record.
