A former Saskatchewan Premier now has a campground and a walking trail named after him. The Government of Saskatchewan and former NDP Premier, The Reverend Lorne Calvert, unveiled signs on Thursday, which will be located at the Lorne Calvert Campground and Lorne Calvert Loop in Moose Jaw’s Wakamow Valley.
Parks, Culture and Sport Minister, Laura Ross, says it was done to honour his decades of service and dedication to the people of Saskatchewan. Calvert was Premier from 2001 to 2007.
He says he is grateful to the Wakamov Valley Authority and the government for this honour and considers it particularly meaningful because four generations of his family so far have grown up enjoying the Valley.
