SaskPower has some estimated times for when power could be restored in areas affected by the storm that walloped Southeast Saskatchewan over the weekend. By 6 this evening (Mon), the rural area north of Estevan should have power, and then it’s 10 pm for Wapella, the Stoughton area, Redvers and the rural area east towards Manitoba, rural areas east of Alida including Storthoaks, east of Oxbow and the Town of North Portal.
This morning, SaskPower estimated about 4,500 residential customers were still without power. and 890 power poles, cross arms or power lines had been damaged in the storm. On social media early Monday afternoon, SaskPower posted that crews were working diligently, making significant gains, but because of the extent of damage in the area, the potential exists for some customers to be without power overnight.
Thirty-five crews began restoration efforts at 7 a.m. across the Estevan, Stoughton, Carlyle, Kipling and Moosomin districts.
