R-C-M-P have made two arrests in connection with reports of several assaults on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation last Wednesday.
Twenty-two-year-old Xavier Smith of Montreal Lake and 19-year-old Natash Fontaine of Prince Albert were arrested without incident at a residence on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation. On April 6, at about 11:45 p.m., the Waskesiu-Montreal Lake R-C-M-P received reports of several reports having taken place on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation. The subsequent investigation found a male assaulted two individuals in separate incidents while a female sprayed bear mace at a third individual. Of the two individuals assaulted by the male, one wasn’t injured and the other reported non life-threatening injuries. A subsequent search warrant of the residence where the suspects were arrested found bear mace, a BB gun and an imitation assault rifle. Fontaine was scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court Tuesday on three separate charges while Smith is to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court tomorrow Wednesday morning at 10 to face nine total counts from five separate charges.
