A total of $1.7 million has been allocated by the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association to 594 ice surfaces and 379 facility owners under the provincial government’s Community Rink Affordability Grant Program for the 2021-22 winter season.
The C-R-A-G Program provides funding to help offset the costs of operating indoor skating and curling rinks in Saskatchewan. Communities, First Nations, schools and non-profits are eligible to receive C-R-A-G funding and can register for an annual grant per indoor ice surface. Re-instated in 2020-21, the program has been confirmed again for next winter with registration opening in the fall of this year. Of the 594 ice surface which received funding in 2021-22, 377 were skating rinks and 217 were curling rinks.
