If you have someone showing up at your door wearing what appears to be all the correct gear from SaskPower, check and double check the veracity of their story.
The Crown utility company says a SaskPower fleet vehicle was broken into Monday night in Saskatoon and a number of items were stolen like hard hat, orange vest, personal protection equipment, business cards, clipboard, jacket, and the like. SaskPower says all of these are items could easily allow someone to impersonate a SaskPower employee.
SaskPower will never go door-to-door demanding payment, asking for personal information, or entrance to a customer’s home but a person with a nefarious agenda could look quite convincing if they were in possession of the stolen items.
If anyone is approached by someone looking to be a SaskPower employee soliciting for payments and/or personal information, they should ask for official SaskPower ID and then contact SaskPower customer service immediately so they can determine whether the interaction is legitimate. If you unfortunately do provide some form of payment then you are urged to contact police immediately. .
