The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on the federal government to follow other countries in cutting taxes to help taxpayers deal with the cost of living rising. Franco Terrazzano, Federal Director of the CTF says “Canadians are fueling up at the pumps and then worrying about whether they have enough left over for ground beef at the grocery store.” Terrazano added “Inflation is a key economic issue facing Canadian families and our politicians need to wake up and provide some relief.” The federally imposed carbon tax has increased twice during the pandemic and is set to increase again on April 1st to 11 cents per litre on fuel. The CTF says while Canada is raising taxes, other countries and states are reducing or cutting taxes for relief during the pandemic.
