No New Deaths, 37 New Cases and Outbreak Declared at Saskatoon School

There were no new deaths and 37 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Sunday in Saskatchewan. Regina accounts for 10 of the new cases while nine others were in Saskatoon.

There are 612 cases which are considered active. There are 109 people in hospital with 35 of those individuals in an ICU.

In addition, one person is receiving care in an ICU outside of Saskatchewan.

here were 114 cases in total reported on the weekend. Saturday also passed with no new deaths reported.

The Saskatchewan health authority has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at North Park Wilson School.

Since school started on September 1st, the SHA has confirmed eight cases connected to the school with three of them confirmed so far this month.

Classes are continuing as scheduled at the school.

This school year, Saskatoon Public Schools has been notified of 331 positive cases at 56 schools in the division.

As of December 12th, there are 37 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 81,817 reported cases.
The new cases are located in the Far North West (1), North West (2), North Central (5), Saskatoon (9), Central East (4), Regina (10), South West (1), South Central (1), South East (3), and one (1) new case has pending residence information.
Three (3) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Central East (from December 9 (1)), and South East (from December 6 (1), December 10 (1)) zones.

612 cases are considered active and 80,268 cases are considered recovered.
More than one-quarter (27.0%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
More than one-half (54.3%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated.
As of December 12th, a total of 109 individuals are hospitalized; including 74 inpatient hospitalizations, and 35 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 109 patients, 68 (62.4%) were not fully vaccinated.
In addition to SK ICU counts, there is one (1) resident receiving out-of-province care in hospital. As this patient is receiving care out-of-province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.
No (0) new deaths reported today. 937 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
1,299,103 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of December 9th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,096,047 tests performed per million. The national rate of 1,302,852 tests performed per million.
