If you thought the Saskatoon Blades had turned the corner following their Friday victory in Red Deer, the Bridge City Bunch’s goal-scoring issues made a re-appearance one day later.
The Blue and Gold have a new goal-less streak started at 60:08 after they took it on the chin by a 7-0 score at the hands of the Hitmen Saturday afternoon in Calgary. Recently-arrived Russian forward Maxim Muranov needed just 1:29 into his sixth W-H-L game to score his first career goal. The 17-year-old added a short-handed tally just past the mid-point of the second period to make it 3-0 and, essentially turn the game the way of the 8-9-0 Hitmen. Brayden Peters made 23 saves for his second shutout of the season, most of them difficult and early in the contest when the result was still in doubt. The 19-year-old also had the benefit of a few posts hit as well. For the 12-8-1 Blades, who were out-shot 42-23, they have now been shutout in three of their last four games. The result also ended a five-game winning streak for Saskatoon at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Bridge City Bunch complete a three games-in three days run through Alberta when they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings Sunday. Game time is 5 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 4:30. Following is the game summary and Les Lazaruk’s Post-Game Show interview with Blue and Gold head coach Brennan Sonne…..
