Battlefords RCMP say a Sacred Fire was lit in Battleford today. It is to signify healing for the loved ones of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons.
Families, friends and loved ones of the Missing and Murdered, Indigenous leaders, members of the public and RCMP officers gathered at the Alex Dillabough Centre in Battleford at sunrise for a Sacred Fire ceremony.
During the lighting of the Sacred Fire a local Elder, led those attending, in prayer.
The Sacred Fire is open to the public and will be watched and attended by a Fire Keeper until the conclusion of the Fourth Feast and Round Dance, which will take place this Saturday evening.
The Feast and Round Dance is a closed to public in honour of the families and loved ones of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons.
