An agri-food business incubator has been established in Saskatoon.
The Global Agri-Food Advancement Partnership or GAAP, is a not-for-profit entity that will help early stage companies develop their technology for the marketplace.
GAAP has four members . . . Ag-West Bio, the Saskatchewan Food Centre, Innovation Place and the Global Institute for Food Security at the University of Saskatchewan.
Karen Churchill is the CEO and President of Ag-West Bio.
“The four partners all brought these strengths. We all recognized where there were struggles and we were trying to get innovation actually at the consumer stage and we saw each of us had something to offer. So that is what inspired us to decide to actually move ahead and do something.”
Some of the funding is coming from the federal government. 1.5 million dollars through Prairies Economic Development Canada.
