Medavie Health Services West says their paramedics were called out at 5:32 pm on Saturday to help an 8 year old boy who had been pulled from the river.
Medavie says their paramedics learned that the 8 year old and his 7 year old cousin were on the river bank when the older child slipped and fell into the river. The current quickly swept him from the shoreline and into immediate danger.
Brad and his wife Ashley Pilon were running along Meewasin Trail and heard the boy screaming he couldn’t swim. Brad Pilon ran into the river and was able to grab the boy, who had already gone under once, and swim him back to the shore.
The children were treated on scene and released to Saskatoon Police who drove them home. Medavie Health Services is giving Brad Pilon the STAR award at the Badge, Shield and Star event this September.
