A 30-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a peace officer and breach of court orders following a Monday morning incident in which a member of the Saskatoon Police Service used their conducted energy weapon.
At about 8:45 Monday morning, police responded to a call in the vicinity of Rusholme Road and Avenue H North of a man acting erratically, approaching students at a nearby school and walking into traffic in the intersection. A responding officer attempted to take the man into custody, at which point he became combative and resisted arrest. That’s when the taser was deployed, but it was ineffective. The man, who was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant, was eventually taken into custody and transported to hospital.
