Canada Post says the Saskatoon Mail Processing Plant has been reviewed by Saskatchewan government health officials after recent positive COVID-19 tests.
Valérie Chartrand, Media Relations with Canada Post confirms at different times over the last few weeks they’ve been notified that a total of 18 of our colleagues from the Saskatoon Mail Processing Place tested positive, with the most recent receiving their test results on Sunday, December 6th.
Chartrand states that health officials have been through the plant to review operations and safety and sanitization protocols, including physical distancing measures. She adds that Canada Post understands that some employees are concerned and says that’s why they’ve been in regular communication, maintained safety protocols, followed public health guidelines and worked closely with their unions. Chartrand says this has been the approach right across their network.Chartrand says employees are always encouraged to raise any concerns they have with their health and safety representatives.Chartrand says Canada post continues to process heavy holiday volumes across their entire network and customers should expect delays as they work to safely deliver the Christmas rush.
