The man responsible for the 2017 death of Tyler Applegate will serve a life sentence.
Dallin Lane Singharath was sentenced Friday morning to life in prison, with no eligibility for parole for 13 years. Singharath was found guilty of 2nd degree murder on June 19th.
Singharath was one of four people arrested after Tyler Applegate was shot in the stomach the morning of July 22nd, 2017, after he had confronted a man urinating on his fence in the 2300 block of 33rd Street West. He died in hospital 18 days later. During proceedings Singharath admitted to shooting Applegate with a prohibited sawed-off and modified .22 caliber rifle. The rifle was later recovered by police and Singharath was arrested following a police pursuit near Edmonton on July 24th, 2017.
3 other people who were with Singharath had been sentenced previously. Madison McKeaveny plead guilty to being an accessory after the fact and was sentenced to four years in prison, she was the driver of a stolen Nissan pickup truck, and the rifle was found in her home. Dustin Grainger and Dylan Chabot-Tyack were sentenced to three years in prison in relation to manslaughter and accessory after the fact charges.
