The show must go on for the Saskatoon’s 25th Street Theatre.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic a replacement of sorts is being produced for the Saskatoon Fringe Festival, called “This is NOT That Festival”.
Executive Director, Anita Smith says there are 4 streams of programming including digital performances that will be streamed online, community engagement projects (including a physical art installation in the Broadway area), community building endeavors with panel discussion from local experts, and even live from your lawn performances. Smith says these performances will be for local artists only and for a donation theatre lovers will get the chance to see a strictly enforced socially distanced live show that will appear on their front lawn.
The full programming schedule will be released at the end of June with all online content available free of charge.
Smith says Saskatoon has such a vibrant arts and culture scene and the pandemic has been incredibly hard on various organizations. She believes artists want to be able to do work that reflects what is happening in the world, to hopefully take steps forward.
