Spring was colder than normal over most of the province, according to data compiled by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Average temperatures for most central regions—including Saskatoon, North Battleford and Prince Albert—were between 2.5 and 3.5 degrees below normal during the March/April/May period. Meadow Lake and Key Lake had their second coldest springs on record with average temperatures nearly 4 degrees and 5 degrees below normal respectively.
Precipitation levels were generally above normal in northern areas, but very dry in southern regions. Estevan had its driest spring in 89 years of data. Yorkton, Regina and Moose Jaw were in the top ten of driest springs.
