Canadians who tested negative for the new coronavirus who were on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship have arrived at the Nav Centre in Cornwall, Ontario this morning (Fri) and will be quarantined for 2 weeks to monitor for COVID-19.
The ship was quarantined on February 3rd after a passenger tested positive for the virus, and everyone was told to stay in their rooms.
47 Canadian passengers tested positive and weren’t allowed on the charter flight. They are in isolation at Japanese health facilities.
The World Health Organization reports that as of this morning (Fri) China had reported 75,567 cases of COVID 19 and 2,239 deaths.
Outside of China, there are now 1152 cases of the virus in 26 countries and there have been 8 deaths.
The WHO is concerned about the number of cases with no clear epidemiological link, such as travel history to China or contact with a confirmed case. The WHO is also concerned about the increase in cases in Iran, where there are now 18 cases and 4 deaths in just the past 2 days.
