Over the weekend between early Friday afternoon and 5:30 on Sunday, Regina Police attended to 14 incidents of drug overdoses and in 3 of those cases, the officers had to administer Naloxone.
There were no fatalities, but police believe Fentanyl may be the cause of these overdoses. Separately, EMS were dispatched to potential overdoses over the weekend as well.
The Regina Police Service is urging the public to not take chances. Buying drugs from a dealer instead of a pharmacy means there is no quality control, and you don’t know what you are getting.
Signs of overdose can include difficulty walking, talking or staying awake, blue lips or nails, very small pupils, cold and clammy skin, dizziness and confusion, extreme drowsiness, choking, gurgling or snoring sounds, slow, weak or no breathing, and not being able to wake the person up.
If you believe someone is overdosing, call 911.
