Nearly 50,000 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan last week as the fall run is in full swing.
Feeder cattle prices were lower in every weight category, with the exception of 300 to 400 pound steers and 700 to 800 pound heifers.
Canfax reports the average price for 700 to 800 pound steers was $198.21 per hundredweight, down $3.57 from the previous week. The largest decline was for 900 pound and over steer at $4.79 per hundredweight.
The average price for a 700 to 800 pound heifer was $176.41 per hundredweight.
Prices for live weight, non-fed cattle in Alberta were lower from the previous week. The price of D2 slaughter cows fell $1.93 to average $85.17 per hundredweight. D3 slaughter cows experienced a price decline of 75 cents to average $75.50 per hundredweight.
