Wednesday was a day of bad-guys-on-bikes for Saskatoon Police. Around 3:40 that afternoon, police were told of a suspicious person who may be armed. He was found on a bicycle near 3rd Avenue and 21st Street; officers realized he had outstanding warrants and took him into custody. They allege that his backpack had an improvised firearm, ammunition, a hammer and a knife inside. The 27 year old from Kilmore is facing numerous charges.
A few hours later, officer saw a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk on the 100 block of 3rd Avenue South. He had nine outstanding warrants and was arrested on the spot. Officers say he was carrying a knife and methamphetamine. The 22 year old was charged with Breach of Undertaking, Possession, and ticketed for riding a bike on a sidewalk.
A few minutes after that incident, around 7:10, officers saw another sidewalk cyclist near 21st and Avenue T South. He fled into an alley. Police found him lying beside his bicycle on the 400 block of R South. A backpack was found nearby with a zip gun and a homemade machete. The 17 year old is facing numerous firearms charges.
