The World Health Organization says even in the most affluent countries, people who are less well off have substantially shorter life expectancies and more illnesses than the rich. What makes a healthy city is the topic of a live podcast event at Roxy Theatre tomorrow (Fri) night. It’s organized by a national think tank which originated in Saskatoon and focuses on the social determinants of health. The event will be hosted by political advisor and broadcaster Ralph Benmergui. Executive director of Upstream, Trish Hennessy, explains that a healthy city would have access to reliable, frequent transportation options to get you to and from, including to the grocery store. A healthy city would also have easy access to nutritious food, and the ability for everyone to be able to afford that food and a place to live. Hennessy says it’s also about social inclusion and a welcoming environment. You can join the conversation with Ralph Benmergui and Upstream at Roxy Theatre for this free event at 7 tomorrow night.
