A new free online Indigenous studies course is now offered through Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
The course which began back in April is a one-credit course that will provide those with three learning objectives which include deepening the understanding of Indigenous nations of Saskatchewan, exploring how colonization has impacted Indigenous peoples and engaging in discussions on current issues.
Jason Seright who is the director of Indigenous strategy at Sask Polytech says one of their mandates is to have Indigenous content in all of the150 programs offered at the school by 2023.
Those who are over the age of 13 can take the new free online course. The current session of the new course got underway April 26th and wraps-up June 27th. The course takes approximately 15 hours to complete and the deadline to sign-up for the first session is June 20th.
Those who sign-up and don’t complete the course within the first session can re-register to continue their studies from the same point in the following session.
