Optimist Hill is continuing to receive upgrades and additions to help make Saskatoon’s newest winter destination more enjoyable for its second year of operation. Co-Chair of the Optimist Hill Campaign, Joe Van’t Hof says work is being done to alter the toboggan area that was closed for the season last winter. Other work that has been completed recently is the planting of 60 new trees on the east side of the hill to create a windbreak and the installation of a new watering system. Van’t Hof says seeding of the entire park is also continuing and that they’re working hard to bring their second magic carpet lift to the hill and Van’t Hof is hoping the lift will be installed sometime this fall. The Co-Chair adds their working with various groups to talk about turning the hill into a bike park next summer. A new berm has also been put in place on the side and on the backend of the hill to prevent people from running onto the street. Hours for Optimist Hill this upcoming season:
Monday through Friday: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Weekends and holidays: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
