The third annual Women’s March will be taking place Saturday in Saskatoon.
The theme of the march this year is Ending Gender-Based Violence.
Kate Lardner, Communications Coordinator of the march in Saskatoon says they’re trying to bring awareness to violence against women, especially those who are Indigenous.
Lardner adds they’re also encouraging those who come out tomorrow to wear a red scarf.
The Women’s March started back in 2017 in Washington D.C. following the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Lardner says the march started because women will not stand for someone who has bragged about sexual assaulting women.
This year, the march in Saskatoon begins in at the Ampitheatre at River Landing at 10 a.m.
The route will include a loop across both the Broadway and Victoria Bridges.
Lardner expects around 500 people to show up which is lower than the approximately 800 people who attended the previous year.
Lardner says weather will be the main reason for the drop in numbers.
