A fire around 10 o’clock last night (thurs) took fire fighters about two and a half hours to get under control. It was at a boarded-up house at 711 Avenue E North. Fire crews found flames showing at the rear of the two-story building. When they went inside, they encountered heavy smoke and flames on the second floor. They remained on scene for another three hours extinguishing hot spots. No word yet on the cause or damage estimate.
