The goal of the Saskatchewan in motion annual Active Toy Guide is to find options for kids to get moving and spend some time outside because right now, less than 15 per cent of kids in the province meet the national guideline of 60 minutes of activity a day.
The 10th annual online Active Toy Guide has been released to help give you some ideas while you are doing your holiday shopping.
In motion spokesperson, Kim Herperger, says kids are spending less time in active play, especially outside and what they know is that kids move more and play longer when they are out of doors.
This year, in motion highlighted physical literacy picks.
Herperger explains physical literacy as developing the skills, the confidence and motivation to move throughout your life.
You may think kids learn naturally about throwing, running and kicking, but it’s not necessarily true, so physical literacy is similar to reading literacy except the knowledge is about how to move.
