The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre is anticipating over 3,000 people for this year’s annual Christmas Hamper Day.
Laurie O’Connor, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre says this year, the hampers will feature ham, potatoes, bread and canned soup.
She adds it’s nice to help out the community during the holiday season.
“Well see lots of seniors that day and lots of folks who might be spending Christmas by themselves and so it’s nice for use to be able to provide a nice meal.”
O’Connor credits the many contributors including Sobeys and Fresh Farm Produce as without the donors, it would be hard for the organization to host the event and respond to the approximately 20 thousand requests for emergency food baskets received each month.
The Christmas Hamper Day runs today (sat) at the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
