West Wind Aviation is reflecting on the crash of flight 280 in Fond Du Lac that happened exactly one year ago today [thurs]. It crashed less than 2 kilometres from the runway. Of the 25 people on board, nine suffered serious injuries; one of those would later die. 16 others were also hurt. West Wind’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Rodyniuk says, “Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with everyone effected [sic] by the ill-fated West Wind flight.” The Transportation Safety Board will be reporting on their investigation into the crash at a news conference tomorrow (fri).
Since the crash, the company says it has added de-icing equipment, training, processes and procedures with which flight and ground crews must be in full compliance. The company says it has also implemented a zero tolerance program for contamination on critical flight surfaces.
