The Provincial N-D-P says the auditor’s report points to several areas where the Sask Party government is falling short.
Opposition leader Ryan Meili blames a backlog of 13-hundred biopsies in Regina and Saskatoon on a shortage of technical staff and pathologists and claims the concern was raised three years ago.
Meili also accuses the government of failing to follow through on three recommendations for the corrections system made in 2008 regarding the rehabilitation of male inmates.
Meili says inmates aren’t getting access to programs and the government hasn’t examined the correlation between those programs and re-offending rates.
The N-D-P leader says he is deeply concerned about the auditor’s report references to missed deadlines in child abuse and neglect allegations as well as interference from managers that resulted in some investigations being halted without sufficient reasons.
