It’s my Parting Shot for some Monday Musings…
It was noted that there wasn’t the usual large amount of cars left behind in the SaskTel Centre parking lot following a Saskatchewan Rush home game in the wee hours of Sunday morning when the Saskatoon Blades’ bus returned from their Saturday visit to Moose Jaw. Two things came to mind, the crowd wasn’t as large as usual or Rush fans weren’t imbibing in adult beverages as much as usual. Of course that wasn’t the second option! Attendance was a shade under eight thousand for the pre-season National Lacrosse League contest between the Rush and Calgary Roughnecks but, before you start ringing the alarm bells, remember the N-L-L labour dispute was only recently ended with a new collective bargaining agreement and Saturday’s exhibition game was put together on short notice about 10 days earlier. Plus, many fans who had the original cancelled home games refunded to them, chose to use that money for Christmas shopping or other such activities, rather than purchase tickets for the newly-created exhibition! So don’t worry, nothing nefarious going on here!
It’s like the 1950s are back in the N-F-L with trick plays like the “Hook and Ladder”…or lateral to be more specific and correct…and the Philadelphia Special being used frequently and effectively…something I like…a lot! There’s nothing like a well-time and executed trick play to make the N-F-L that much more interesting to watch!
And, if you’re waiting for me to chat about what happened yesterday at SaskTel Centre, you know…that Blades-Raiders’ game! I’m going to make you wait until tomorrow for my thoughts!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
