Regina Police have arrested a man and a woman in their 20 s after a crime spree in and around the Queen City.
Police say they 8 o clock Wednesday night a patrol officer spotted a white Ford truck travelling at a high rate of speed. This was moments before another officer notified other members about a white truck they had stopped in suspicion of hitting a pedestrian, but fled the scene. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Police then received information that the truck involved was stolen at about 6:30 in the south end, and it is believed the same vehicle was involved in a collision with a traffic sign on the corner of 13th Avenue and Broad street. Police then spotted the suspect vehicle on the corner of Rae street and 2nd Avenue North where the drive allegedly racked and pointed a shotgun at an officer before fleeing the scene.
After the vehicle departed the city, RCMP took over the investigation, where the suspects in the vehicle were reportedly involved in a firearms incident on the Pasqua First Nation. A man was assaulted in his own home, and a second truck was stolen from the property, with the first stolen truck abandoned on the First Nation.
The second stolen vehicle was found in the Muscowpetung First Nation, and a pursuit ensued, but was stopped when the vehicle entered the town of Edenwold. A second pursuit started south of the town, but it ended when that truck ran out of gas near Balgonie. A woman was arrested on scene, while the man fled. A police dog was able to track down the man, but he then allegedly attempted to use a skid steer to attack officers. RCMP used pepper spray and a taser to arrest the man.
Both suspects face an undetermined amount of charges, and more information is expected from both Regina Police and RCMP. (CKRM)
