The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team is going back into the water of the Swift Current Creek today to try and find evidence that may lead them to a missing 26 year old.
The whereabouts of Colton Koop came into question when a pick up truck broke through the guard rail and into the creek on November 16th. RCMP were notified around 6 that morning of the accident but believe the vehicle had been in the water since 2 am. The registered owner of the vehicle confirms Colton would have had access to the truck prior to the accident.
Emergency crews attending the scene determined no one was in the truck. The next day when the pick up was removed from the creek, divers went into the water and determined there was no one in the water around the truck, no one in the vehicle and no one under the truck. A police dog was brought in and also found nothing. Colton’s family has not seen or heard from him from since November 16th.
RCMP are now asking that residents in the area of the accident check their yards and outbuildings for anything unusual or out of place. RCMP also stress that Colton Koop is not subject to any criminal investigation or charges and that the matter is considered a missing person case at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency or Crime Stoppers.
