A judge has ruled a Terror Squad gang member convicted of second-degree murder of a Saskatoon man cannot apply for parole for 12 years.
22-year-old Shaylin Sutherland-Kayseas was found guilty in the 2016 shooting death of 26-year-old Dylan Phillips during a home invasion on Avenue G North.
The defence had sought the 10-year minimum for parole eligibility, while the Crown argued for 15 years.
A second-degree murder conviction carries an automatic life sentence.
In October, Sutherland-Kayseas received an eight-year prison sentence for kidnapping a woman who said she heard the accused brag about killing.
Two other people are serving sentences in the case after being convicted of manslaughter.
Trent Raymond Southwind was sentenced to eight years while a 15 year old boy got a three year youth sentence.
