Flags at all city facilities are lowered today (thurs) for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
The day is an opportunity for residents to remember all woman and girls who have died due to violence.
The day was established in 1991 by the federal government.
The federal government chose December 6th to mark the anniversary of the deaths of 14 women who were killed at Ecole Polytehcnique de Montreal in 1989.
