It’s my Parting Shot for some thank yous to Huskie Athletics…
The first one goes to the U of S football team. They, obviously, know that I can’t exist first thing in the morning without my coffee and…even though I didn’t get a chance to see them play live in this special season for them, what with a Canada West championship and an appearance in the Mitchell Bowl national semi-final, Huskie football took the time to send me a hand-written, personalized card for all my support. That included a “Tim” card…which I will definitely put to good use! Have a great off-season and look forward to 2019!!
Secondly, a couple of weeks back, I got my first look at Merlis Belsher Place while attending a news conference for the Grand Slam of Curling’s final event of the season next April. On the impressive-looking new ice surface was the Huskie men’s hockey team. A huge thank you to Head Coach Dave Adolph for taking 15-to-20 minutes out of his busy day to show me around what the Dogs have for facilities within their long overdue new home. Adolph is very proud of it…and well he should be! Nothing was left out for, both, the men’s and women’s programs!
Lastly, it’s always nice to re-connect with good people that you don’t get a lot of chance to see. That goes for Huskie men’s hockey assistant coach Troy Walkington and Dogs’ defenceman, former Saskatoon Blades’ captain, Evan Fiala. Both were generous with their time to chat when they were pressed for time…and I thank them for helping to make my day!
In fact, I thank all involved with Huskie Athletics for making this old athletic supporter feel special…it’s those chances to interact that makes doing what I do very much worth it!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
