Even though there was reduced visibility and poor driving conditions from the fog and icy roads, police still found drivers over the weekend that were speeding or driving aggressively.
The Saskatchewan RCMP reports that in the first weekend of National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, 150 vehicles were ticketed for those infractions, 13 were charged with impaired driving, 3 drivers had their licences suspended because of alcohol impairment and 2 for drug-related impairment.
In one instance on Saturday, officers stopped a vehicle with no taillights.
They noticed the driver was impaired and 2 young children were sitting on the laps of adult passengers.
The driver was charged with impaired driving and other offences from the traffic stop.
The RCMP add that charges were also laid for those driving ATVs on Saskatchewan’s main roads and three were also charged with impaired driving.
