A project aimed at educating Saskatoon youth about the effects and consequences of substance abuse has been running for 14 years now. Project Face-off is a partnership between the Saskatoon Police Service, the RCMP and the Saskatoon Blades. Every year, members from the three organizations head to Vancouver to talk with people living on East Hastings in the city’s east downtown who are battling drug abuse. Saskatoon Police Constable Greg Pozniak says it also gives those people living on the margins of society have a chance to talk about their past and tell their story. From there, those from Saskatoon who travelled to Vancouver come back home and share their experiences with students in grades 6, 7 and 8 in schools throughout the Saskatoon area. Today they are visiting Buena Vista School. Pozniak says last year, Project Face-off presented to approximately 1800 youth in 20 Saskatoon schools.
