A Regina Police officer shot a dog when officers responded to a report of a house fire in the 700 block of Cameron Street.
The call came in at 6:45 this morning. Regina Police say they contacted Regina Humane Society and Animal Protection Services for help when they first encountered the dog which is described by officers as aggressive. Police claim that while dealing with a person at the scene of the house fire, the dog continued to behave aggressively which is when an officer fired two shots. The animal ran off and was found alive with by Humane Society workers a short time later suffering from a gunshot wound. It is in veterinary care. Police say there is an investigation into the incident underway.
