It’s a bit belated but winter weights are going into effect on most secondary highways in Saskatchewan. This will go into effect at 12:01 am on Monday. The exception is southern Saskatchewan where the weather has been too mild so those winter weights – which means secondaries can carry primary highway weights – will go into effect when the weather permits. Winter weights allows shippers to move more goods in winter months which the government points out is important in a land-locked province dependent on exports. The map in this story depicts where winter weights are not yet applicable.
