The first salvo in the run up to the January 10th WHL trade deadline has been fired by the Regina Pats and Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The Canes have acquired Saskatoon product, Pats captain and leading goal scorer Jake Leschyshyn along with top points man and fellow 19-year-old forward Nick Henry.
Heading to Regina are a pair of forwards, 19-year-old Jadon Joseph and 18-year-old Ty Kolle.
The Pats also piled up draft picks receiving the Hurricanes first rounder this spring, another first rounder in 2020 as well as third and eighth round picks this spring and a fourth round selection in 2020. There are also conditional picks if Leschyshyn and Henry return to Lethbridge as 20-year-old’s.
The Hurricanes who have been to the last two Eastern Conference finals are third in the Central Division with a record of 11-8-3-2. The Pats who are rebuilding after hosting the 2018 Memorial Cup and making it to the final have a record of 8-17 to sit fifth in the Eastern Division.
