SaskPower is making changes to its Net Metering Program which allows participating customers to generate up to 100 kilowatts of their own power. Excess power can be added to the province’s energy grid. SaskPower says the revision will add up to an additional 16 megawatts of renewable and carbon neutral electricity. The application process has been simplified, banking credits now last for three years instead of one, and customers will sign a ten-year contract instead of one, providing more long-term certainty. There are currently about 14 hundred Net Metering customers.
