The Saskatoon Co-op Board of Directors decided at a regular meeting, that they would not call special meetings of the membership to address either of the petitions submitted by some members of the Co-op. One of the petitions asked for a special meeting of the membership to vote on the removal of the Board of Directors while the other wanted a special meeting of the membership to discuss the CEO’s decisions around collective bargaining in the current labour dispute. The Board of Directors claims it’s legal council has advised the requests for special meetings failed to meet requirements set out in the provincial Cooperatives Act, Saskatoon Co-op’s bylaws and the general principles of law around members’ meetings.
