A 29 year old man is facing numerous charges after a dangerous incident involving Saskatoon Police and the public just before 11 o’clock last night (thurs). A patrol unit spotted a stolen vehicle near Idylwyld and 33rd street and tried to pull it over, but the driver didn’t stop. Police say he drove off in such a dangerous manner that they immediately stopped the pursuit. The police plane picked it up and kept ground units aware of where the driver was. Police allege he was driving fast and into oncoming traffic. Stop sticks were used and three tires were deflated. The vehicle slowed but was still being driven dangerously and headed toward 8th street; so, officers boxed it in. One cruiser was side-swiped but they were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver. He is in court today and will face charges that include assaulting a police officer with a weapon. No one was hurt.
