An accident involving a semi, a passenger vehicle and a deer on the Trans Canada Highway on Thursday night was a fatal one.
Moose Jaw RCMP and the Caronport Fire Department responded, about 3 miles (or just under 5 kilometres) east of Mortlach.
Investigators have determined the semi pulled over after hitting and injuring a deer, but the deer went back onto the highway into the path of traffic.
A passenger vehicle swerved to avoid the deer and hit the back of the parked semi and flipped.
The driver, a 24 year old woman from Regina, died at the scene, and the 28 year old man who was her passenger received non life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, but has since been released.
The semi driver was uninjured.
The investigation continues, but impairment is not believed to be a factor.
