A 33 year old security guard luckily suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the chest several times in a confrontation with a suspected shoplifter.
Around 9 o’clock Wednesday night, when patrol officers responded to a call at a grocery store in the 300 block of 33rd Street West they saw a fight between the Loss Prevention officer, or security guard for the business, and another man. Police say bystanders told them that when the suspected thief was confronted, he stabbed the security guard several times in the chest where his protective vest saved him from injury, but the weapon found its mark in the guard’s shoulder.
A 46 year old man is charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession, Possession of Hydromorphone and Theft under $5,000. Saskatoon Police say they seized a knife and Hydromorphone.
