Police officers intercepted an alcohol stash allegedly for bootlegging in the north on Tuesday.
In its patrols near Sandy Bay and Pelican Narrows, Combined Traffic Services Section officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
Police report that the officers recognized the two women in the vehicle had been known to buy alcohol, transport it to Pelican Narrows and re-sell it at an inflated price.
Eight 66 ounce bottles of whiskey and one 66 ounce bottle of vodka were seized.
The two women were charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.
Had the alcohol been re-sold, police estimate the profit would have been about $900, at least twice the original value.
