The provincial government is doing a library review and the official opposition would like it to be more transparent.
When the 2017-18 budget was announced, there were what the NDP calls deep cuts for libraries but with the public speaking out, the cuts were cancelled, and instead the SaskParty government said it would review the library system to determine the next steps.
Education critic Carla Beck says there has been little information about the review process so she asks the government to release the submissions received as part of the review and for more transparency about the plans.
Education Minister Gord Wyant says the NDP will have their request answered in due time when the report is done and it is tabled.
He says they recognize the importance of libraries now and into the future for Saskatchewan.
The NDP submitted a Freedom of Information request for all submissions the review has received, but Beck says they were told the records don’t exist. (CKRM)
