Two opposite streaks came to an end Wednesday night as the Lethbridge Hurricanes defeated the home-standing Saskatoon Blades 3-1.
Lethbridge product Carl Tetachuk stopped 35 shots, gaining first star honours in the process as the Canes ended a three-game winless skid on the road. The 17-year-old rookie got offensive support from Jadon Joseph, Ty Kolle and Jackson Shepard. Kolle drew assists on the Joseph and Shepard goals for a three-point night as the Hurricanes improved their record to 10-8-4.
Tristen Robins opened the scoring for the Bridge City Bunch, as their four-game winning streak came to an end in front of 2,973 fans at SaskTel Centre. But, no sooner than Robins scored in the final minute of the first period, than Joseph replied 35 seconds later to nullify the Blue and Gold’s momentum. The 14-8-2 Blades had plenty of chances to score, while out-shooting Lethbridge 36-28, but missed open nets or were stymied by the Canes’ defence and Tetachuk.
It wasn’t the way Saskatoon wanted to head out on the road for their five-game tour of the B.C. Division. That starts Saturday in Prince George. Following is the official game summary from the W-H-L…
